Activity in 2009

• Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Coastal Erosion in Orissa and its Impact on Climate Change’ on 4^th January in Bhubaneswar.
• Observed the National Science Day and the National Environment Awareness Campaign by holding public meeting, plantation of tree saplings, competitions among students and release of a book on ‘Climate Change’ in Odia language, on 28^th February. It was hosted by the Royal College of Science & Technology, Bhubaneswar. The Indian Science Congress Association: Bhubaneswar Chapter colaborated the programme.
• Organized a popular talk on the theme ’Relevance of Vedic Physics in the Contemporary Society’ on 5th April  in Bhubaneswar.
• Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Erosion along Puri-Konark Shoreline’ on 3^rd May in Bhubaneswar.
• Celebrated the 37^th World Environment Day by holding a public meeting on 5^th June on the current year’s theme in Bhubaneswar. This was collaborated by the ISCA Bhubaneswar Chapter.
• Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Popularization of Science’ on 5^th July in Bhubaneswar.
• Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Demographic and Social Issues in Environmental Projects’ on 2^nd August in Bhubaneswar.
• The 63^rd Independence Day was celebrated by hoisting the National Flag and holding discussions on the ‘Development of the Odisha State’.
• Organized a popular talk-cum-demonstration on the theme ‘Science of Yoga and Pranayam’ on 6^th September in Bhubaneswar.
• Celebrated the 55^th Wildlife Week and Gandhi Jayanti by holding a popular talk on the theme ‘Non-Violence and Wildlife Conservation’ on 2^nd October in Bhubaneswar.
• Organized a workshop on the theme ‘Anthropogenic Impacts at Khandagiri- Udayagiri Twin Hills, Bhubaneswar’ by holding a one-day workshop and field visit to the hills, on 25^th October.
• Collaborated the two-day state level science congress- 12^th Orissa Bigyan Congress’ organized by the Bhubaneswar Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association on 5^th and 6^th December at the Regional Museum of Natural History by holding presentation of research papers, popular talks on science, felicitating eminent scientists for life time contribution in various disciplines of science. The focal theme of the Congress was ‘Science & Technology Challenges of 21^st Century- National Perspectives’.
