Activities from 1992 to 2001

In Year 1992

• Organised a symposium, quiz, poster, elocution, and seminar, sit & draw competitions on NEAC 91-92 theme “Taking science to villages” at Bhubaneswar. This was collaborated by Council of Professional Social Workers, Regional Science Centre, Rameswari Mahila Samiti and Indian Environment Society.
• Organised the Orissa Environment Congress on the Earth Summit theme “Environment and Development” in Bhubaneswar on 23-24 May. This was collaborated by Council of Professional Social Workers, Regional Science Centre and supported by Government of Orissa in the Department of Forest and Environment, and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
• Conducted training programmes on “Environment Management in Industrial Areas” under the aegis of Orissa Environment Programme (a project under Indo-Norwegian Cooperation) and the “Dhenkanal District Industrial Pollution Control and Citizen’s Action”.
• Launched the research and study project entitled “Impact of Industrial Pollution on Domestic Animals in Angul- Talcher Area” - with assistance from Orissa Environment Programme (OEP). The Post-Graduate Department of Botany, Utkal University colaborated the study.
• Conducted a Survey on the “Impact of Bahuda-Baghalati Medium Dam Protect on the Flora and Ecosystem in the adjascent areas”. This was sponsored by Orissa State Social Welfare Board.
  
  In Year 1993
• Organised various competitions, a public meeting and symposium on “Biodiversity” with collaboration of Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar to celebrate the 7th NEAC 1992-93 and the World Forest Day.
• Continuing the survey and research project on “Impact of Industrial Pollution on Natural Vegetation, Agricultural Crops and Domestic animals in Angul-Talcher area of Orissa State”. This was sponsored by District Action Group of Angul and Dhenkanal Districts with assistance from OEP.
• Conducted a training programme on “Spiritual Awareness for Environment Workers” at Santhapada village in Angul District. This was sponsored by OEP funded Environment Project of DAG, Angul.
• Organised a colloquium on “Impact of Industrial Pollution on Natural Vegetarian, Agricultural Crops and Domestic Animals in Angul-Talcher area of Orissa State” to celebrate the 21st World Environment Day.
  
  In Year 1994
• Conducted a seminar on “Environment Protection, Prople and the Law” in collaboration with the Regional Science Centre on 2nd February. It was supported by the CPR Environment Education Centre, Chennai.
• Conducted a seminar on “Environment and Sustainable Urban Development” in Bhubaneswar on 5th June, synchronizing with celebration of the 22nd World Environment Day at TTD Kalyan Mandapam and Hotel Kalinga Ashoka, Bhubaneswar. It was supported by National Institute of Habitat Management (NIHM), Bhubaneswar.
• Completed the research project on “Impact of Industrial Pollution on Domestic Animals in Angul-Talcher Area”.
• Conducted a seminar on “Environment Impact Assessment, Environment Auditing and Waste Minimization” at Hotel Kalinga Ashoka, Bhubaneswar, sponsored by Indian Environment Society, New Delhi.
  
  In Year 1995
• Conducted a seminar on “Environmental Issues of South Orissa”, public meeting and lectures on “Popularization of Science” at Berhampur during 4-5th June. The Programme was organized synchronizing with National Environment Awareness Campaign and the 23rd World Environment Day. It was sponsored by Government of Orissa in the Department of Forest and Environment, and Orissa Bigyan Academy, Bhubaneswar.
• Conducted a national seminar on “Sustainable Shrimp Farming and Environment in Orissa” on 17-18th August at the Institute of Engineers, Orissa State Chapter with support of the Central Pollution Control Board and the Department of Forest and Environment, Government of Orissa. This was co.-sponsored by OSFA, MPEDA, COPDANET and others.
• Organised a public meeting and competitions on essay, debate, sit, & draw and slogan in Bhubaneswar to observe the “National Pollution Prevention Day”. This was sponsored by the State Pollution Control Board, Orissa and collaborated by the Orissa Environment Programme and the Regional Science Centre.
• Organised a seminar on “Environmental Strategies for Development Projects “in Bhubaneswar in June coinciding with celebration of the 23rd World Environment Day. This was supported by Government of Orissa in the Department of Forest & Environment and collaborated by the Orissa Environment Programme, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar, Orissa Bigyan Academy and Indian Science Congress Association: Bhubaneswar Chapter.
  
  In Year 1996
• Organised a workshop on ‘Natural Resources Utilization and Eco-Friendly Products with Women’s Participation’ at Bhubaneswar under NEAC programme. This was sponsored by the State and Union Environment and Forest Departments and collaborated by Ananya.
• Held a workshop on preparation of a document on the “Biodiversity of Similipal Forest” on 14th June at Bhubaneswar. The project was sponsored by State Forest & Environment Department.
• Collaborated the programme of round table discussion on ‘Present Status of Biological Diversity and Strategy for their Conservation’ on 29th December—International Day for Biodiversity at the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar to commemorate the entry into force of the ‘Convation on Biological Diversity’. This was organized by Nature & Wildlife Conservation Society of Orissa and sponsored by the State Department of Environment.
  
  In Year 1997
• Collaborated Mayurbhanj Association of Swetchasebi Samukhya (MASS) in celebration of World Forest Day by holding public meeting, village committee meetings and cycle rally for protection of forests and to implement ‘Biosphere Reserve’ programme in Similiopal forest. This was supported by CENDERET, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
• Organised a regional workshop / training for NEAC on 23rd May in Bhubanswar. This was sponsored by Union and State Forest & Environment Departments.
• Organised an exhibition and seminar on “Medicinal Plants” as a part of NEAC programme on 5th June. This was synchronized with the 25th World Environment Day celebration. The programme was collaborated by Bhubaneswar Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology and Union Bank of India and supported by Government of India and Government of Orissa in Forest & Environment.
  
  In Year 1998
• Organised a workshop on ‘Prevention and Control of Vehicular Pollution’ under NEAC at Cuttack on 26th April.
• Organised a workshop on ‘People’s Participation in Conservation and Plantation of Trees for Environment Protection’ at Rajgangpur. This was sponsored by Orissa Bigyan Academy.
• Organised a symposium on ‘Nuclear Radiation and Environment’, and also a round table discussion on ‘Sustainable Use of Ocean and Wetlands’ to celebration the 26th World Environment Day at Pathani Samant Planetorium in Bhubaneswar.
• Sponsored the seminar on ‘Consumer Education and Counseling’ on 19th July organized by Nature, Environment, and Society Trust.
• Collaborated the workshop ‘Sustainable Development of Chilika Lake”. This was organized by the Chilika Development Authority, Department of Water Resources of Government of Orissa and collaborated by the Wetlands International South Asia.
• Collaborated the 2nd Orissa Bigyan Congress organized by Bhubaneswar Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association in November in Bhubaneswar.
  
  In Year 1999
• Organised a public meeting and released a booklet on ‘Keep Our Water Resources Clean’ in Bhubaneswar on 8th May under NEAC. This was collaborated by Bhubaneswar Chapter of ISCA and Dr. Abhina Chandra Homeopathic Mdical College, Bhubaneswar.
• Organised a round table discussion on ‘State of Orissa 2000’ on the occasion of the 27th World Environment Day in Bhubaneswar. This was collaborated by Bhubaneswar Chapter of ISCA, and Directorate of Horticulture.
  
  In Year 2000
• Organised a motivation camp at Sashtri Nagar, Nuabazar, Cuttack on “Tree Plantation” as a part of the programme under NEAC. This was sponsored by the Union and State Environment & Forest Departments.
• Organised Tree Plantation and public meeting on current year’s theme in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the 28th World Environment Day on 5th June.
  
  In Year 2001
• Organised debate, art, elocution, and sit & draw competitions on the theme of the 29th World Environment Day (WED)- “Vehicular Pollution, Road Safety, Nature Conservation, and Safe City Life” at Bharatiya Bidya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. Tree plantation was done in the premises of Bharatiya Bidya Bhawan.
• Organised a public meeting under the aegis of National Environment Awareness Campaign supported by the Union Ministry of Environment & Forests, and State Department of Forest & Environment at the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar. Popular lectures and various competitions were organized on awareness promotion towards ‘safe transport, sanitation and health in urban cities’, avenue plantation. A book on ‘Plants in service of mankind’ in popular Oriya language was released.
