About OES

Founded in 1982 with the distinctive objective of promoting public awareness on diverse aspects of the fast- deteriorating environment and the depleting natural resources, the Orissa Environmental Society (OES) has established itself as a front-ranking organisation in the arena of environment. During the course of the past two decades, the OES has carried out successfully a series of programmes and studies for the identification and mitigation of environmental problems, conservation of natural habitats, wildlife, water, and other resources, prevention of pollution and improvement in the quality of environment through campaign, lobby, liaison, advocacy, research, publication etc.

It has been preaching the principles of sustainability based on ecologically, economically and socially sound methods, and raising public consciousness with regard to the best practices in environmental conservation.

The OES has the unique distinction of enjoying the accreditation of some national and international organizations. To its credit, it has over 500 life members in its roll, being connected with diverse professions, such as academics, researchers, technocrats, doctors, architects, planners, economists and others interested in the protection of environment and conservation of natural resources.
